I’ve teared up a few times this week. Does that ever happen to you? Your mind and heart begin drifting towards what’s about to happen in the coming days and your eyes start to sweat? Well, maybe it’s just me, but it’s happened to me on more than a few occasions this week.
There’s something about GOOD FRIDAY.
There’s something about EASTER.
And there’s just something about BAPTISMS.
When you put all three of these things together in the same thought, well, not gonna lie, I get choked up, at least more than normal.
To say that I’m excited to celebrate with all of you GOOD FRIDAY, EASTER, and BAPTISMS would be a massive understatement. But to be honest, it’s not the excitement for these things that leads me to tear up.
GOD IS AT WORK.
It’s not always easy to see or articulate the work of God, but when I consider what we’re about to enter into this Easter weekend, I get overwhelmed knowing that GOD… the SUSTAINER & CREATOR of ALL things is at work in our midst.
Think about that for a moment. Seriously, just take a moment to consider that sentence… GOD IS AT WORK.
People are deciding to FOLLOW JESUS for the first time.
People are returning to a life of FOLLOWING JESUS.
People are SHARING their faith with family and friends.
People are GROWING in their depth of love for God.
People are GROWING in their depth of love for those around them.
TRANSFORMATION… people are experiencing personal and relational transformation.
ADDICITIONS have been broken.
HEALING and FREEDOM are taking place.
This is but a snapshot of the things that can only be explained by…
GOD IS AT WORK.
I don’t know ALL that God has in store for each of us this Easter weekend but if I could, let me just encourage you with this…
BE READY TO BE PART OF HIS WORK.
I can promise you that you will not get to the weekend’s end and be thinking about how great a sermon or song was. No, I whole-heartedly believe that what you will be celebrating by the time you go to bed on Sunday is that you were not only a WITNESS to the work of God, but you were part of it all!
