“God speaks LOUDEST when we’re QUIETEST.” Mark Batterson
It’s December… which means many things. Decorating. Shopping. Parties. Food… oh, so much food.
December is a GREAT month for sure, but if December is anything, it might be the LOUDEST month in the calendar year. And to be super clear, I’m not talking about volume that’s measured in decibels. Rather, I’m talking about volume that can be measured in activity. Yes, we are busy pretty much every single day of the year, but in December, it’s a different level of busy. And the busier we get, the louder it gets.
What’s somewhat comical (maybe tragic?) is that everything in December is leading up to Christmas… the day we set aside to celebrate when the God of the universe stepped into the world He created. And yet, by the time that day arrives, we’ve not spent much time, if any,, truly preparing our hearts to honor the One who came.
What might it look like to prepare your heart for Christmas? In one word - PRAYER.
Prayer slows us down.
Prayer quiets our hearts.
Prayer prepares us not to miss the LORD and all He has for us.
With it being December 1st, consider setting aside time each day, preferably at the beginning of the day to get quiet so He can get loud. Let His voice be THE voice that leads you through December. And as we do that, I’m fully confident that we will be prepared for the 25th in a way where we won’t miss Him.
Looking forward to gathering with you ALL this Sunday! And more than that, looking forward to seeing ALL that He will do as we get quiet with Him in prayer!
