On Sunday, October 27th, GENESIS will go back to offering two worship gatherings – at 9AM & 11AM. There will be FULL GENESIS Kids programing at both worship gatherings.
Why the change? Simplest answer is this – we want to make more room for the people we believe God will allow us to reach! Since moving locations, our community has continued to grow, but we believe that God wants to use GENESIS to reach even more. Thus, offering two worship gatherings creates more space for the people we have yet to meet.
Our new space (35 Olympia Ave.) is nearly twice the size of our old space, but because we have fewer bathrooms, our occupancy has been set much lower – 300 people in the building. Over the past month, this has become an issue. Going to two worship gatherings will help in two ways:
- It will limit the amount of people in the building at one time,
- It will increase our capacity to reach even more people.
With going back to two worship gatherings, the needs will also increase. We already have an incredible team of volunteers who serve on Sunday – but the reality is that with more people being introduced to the GENESIS Community, we need more people willing to sacrificially serve. Specifically, there are four areas where you have the opportunity to begin making an immediate impact:
- GENESIS Kids – there is a need for more teachers, teacher assistants, nursery workers. By serving in GENESIS Kids, you have the opportunity to make an eternal impact on the lives of young kids. To learn more about SERVING within GENESIS Kids, please contact Kyla Davis at
- Connections – there is a need for more greeters as well as people willing to follow-up with first-time visitors. On average, GENESIS sees 25 new guests each week… that’s a lot of people visiting each week! Our desire is to care for each person that God has entrusted to our care. We realize that each guest might not come back, but we NEVER want the reason that they do not return to be that they did not feel loved, greeted, and cared for. - Creative – Live streaming, in-house streaming, lighting, Pro-Presenter, spatial design, video, and video editing... needless to say, our Creative Team is hard at work every Sunday! The heart behind our Creative Team is simply this: we believe in the message of the Gospel and the mission of GENESIS, thus we want to do whatever we can to make the message and mission as accessible to as many people as possible. - Facilities – this may be the least ‘glamorous jobs’ at GENESIS, but with nearly 300 people in and out of GENESIS each Sunday, we need to make sure that the facility we’ve been entrusted with is clean and safe. Whether its cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming 15,000 sq.ft. of space, preparing the GENESIS Café, putting the signs out or preparing communion for 300 people – there is a lot to get done on a Sunday morning. Our core belief about serving is that we serve because Jesus served us. We do not serve to get something from God, we serve because He’s already given us everything! Thus, our service is not done begrudgingly, but our service flows from grateful hearts.
The beautiful reality of serving is that as we serve, we are growing both vertically and horizontally! Meaning, when you serve, you will grow closer to God! Likewise, when you serve, you will begin to grow relationally with those you serve with.
God is doing an amazing thing with and through our community. You have the opportunity to be part of that! How? By continuing to INVITE people to be part of what God is doing at GENESIS, and secondly, by serving – serving Jesus and the men and women that God is entrusting to our care.
