What is too HARD for you right now?
In this season of life, what’s the ‘thing’ or ‘situation’ that just seems like it will never change or get better no matter you do?
Is it a relational thing?
Is it something with work or career?
Maybe a financial thing?
Something with family?
Not seeking to discourage you by asking about the ‘hard’ thing in your life, rather, I hope to bring you the same encouragement that the LORD brought to me this past Monday.
As I was working my way through Jeremiah, I came across this incredible reminder. See that with me in Jeremiah 32:17-18…
“Nothing is too hard for you… You are the great and powerful God, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.”
As way of context, Jeremiah, a prophet of God offers up this prayer as the Babylonian army is actively surrounding the city of Jerusalem in order to burn it to the ground. And in the midst of this devastating moment, God tells Jeremiah to do something that is utterly perplexing… purchase land in Jerusalem.
Obvious question, WHY on earth would God tell Jeremiah to purchase real estate in a land that is actively being conquered? That makes ZERO sense. Well, despite it not making any sense to Jeremiah, he is obedient to do what the LORD called him to do. And after making that purchase, Jeremiah offers up his prayer…
“Nothing is too HARD for you…”
In more ways than one, Jeremiah purchasing land was intended to be a live parable of hope. Jeremiah was well aware that the judgement of God was coming through the Babylonians — but God did not want Jeremiah to forget about His promise of restoration.
In other words, things were not looking good for Jeremiah and the people of God, but the purchase of land was to help Jeremiah see that God was not done with His people… there would be a day when the people of God would experience the restoration of God in the very place that was being devastated.
Back to my initial question…
“What is too HARD for you right now?”
Not sure how you’d answer that question, but here’s my encouragement to you…
BE OBEDIENT WITH WHAT YOU KNOW…
EVEN IF WHAT YOU KNOW DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.
Often, not always, but often, HARD THINGS have a blinding effect on the ONE thing that God is wanting us to be obedient with. In other words, we get so fixated on the HARD THING that we miss what God is calling us to be obedient with.
So, let me ask you this…
WHAT IS GOD CALLING YOU TO BE OBEDIENT TO?
Is it a relational thing?
Is it something with work or career?
Maybe a financial thing?
Something with family?
Whatever it is… chose to be obedient and like Jeremiah, let your prayer simply be… “Nothing is too HARD for you…”
GIVE the hard thing to God… and let’s see how the LORD moves in the midst of our obedience to Him.
