HIS WORD | PART 4

by Michael Davis on March 04, 2026

As I continue in my Bible reading plan with my oldest son, I find myself now in the book of Isaiah. If you’re not all that familiar with Isaiah, well, if I could sum it up in a sentence, I’d say it like this…
‘Isaiah is the story of a Holy and gracious God who refuses to let sin and rebellion have the final word.’

Clearly, much could be said about Isaiah… who knows, might make for a great upcoming sermon series :), but until that happens, let me share with you one verse that landed in my journal…

“He will be gracious if you ask for help.”
Isaiah 30:19 (NLT)

Pretty simple, right? Just ask for help… how hard is that?

Well, this might not be true for you, but I know for me, asking for help is not always the first thing I do, rather, it’s often the 6th or 7th thing I do.

After trying to figure it out on my own… after stressing about it for a while… and after getting a bit frustrated about it… after I’ve exhausted all other options, I remember, ‘O yeah, I should probably ask the LORD about this.’

Please know what you're about to read will not be new, but for me, and I’m guessing for you, we ALL need the reminder. Here it is…
ASK GOD FIRST.

As I’ve already confessed, I’m not great at asking God first for help, but here’s what I’m already experiencing when I ASK GOD FIRST
HE INFORMS WHAT I DO NEXT.

And thankfully, when I ASK GOD FIRST, well, again thankfully, He does not lead me to…
freak out…
get anxious…
or lose any sleep.

Thankfully, His help is HELPFUL. And as you might imagine, His help is exactly what we need, not always what we thought we needed, but His help is ALWAYS exactly what we need when we need it.

I don’t know what you need help with right now, but please take a moment to do Isaiah 30:19… ask for His help.

Provision?
Protection?
Wisdom?
Guidance?
Strength?
Getting unstuck?

Not sure what you need to ask His help on, but PLEASE don’t forget the first part of Isaiah 30:19… “He will be gracious…”

Please know, when you ask for His help, you will not be turned away. God, who is GRACIOUS, loves when His kids ask Him to do the very thing He loves to do… HELP HIS KIDS!

I’m thankful for ALL of God’s Word, but most recently, I’m thankful for the reminder from Isaiah 30:19 to…
ASK GOD FIRST.
