‘Feast of Favorites’ - that’s what the Davis Family does for Thanksgiving. Kyla, Tristan, Reilly, Caeden and I… well, none of us are ‘fans’ of turkey or dressing or that strange looking red-purplish stuff that comes out of a can and is oddly squishy. So rather than force ourselves to eat foods we don’t really enjoy, our Thanksgiving meal consists of everyone’s favorite foods.
At our Thanksgiving table tomorrow will be waffles, steak tips, pizza and Brussel sprouts (just to name a few things). And just in case you’re wondering, Brussel sprouts are not even in my top 1000 favorite foods :).
So… wherever you happen to be on Thanksgiving Day, I hope and pray that you get to enjoy some of your ‘favorite’ foods!
As we all know, come Thanksgiving, we’re encouraged to take a moment to reflect and give thanks. For some, giving thanks comes easy whereas for others, well, not so much. Whichever bucket you fall into this Thanksgiving, I wanted you to know that I GIVE THANKS FOR YOU!
This is a super short list, but as I’ve been reflecting upon ALL the ways and ALL the things that I have to give thanks to regarding you, the GENESIS community, here’s what comes to mind…
I am thankful for your friendship, support, encouragement, and partnership in gospel ministry…
I am thankful that you want to walk with God…
I am thankful that you want to help those around you walk with God…
I am thankful that you live sacrificially…
I am thankful that you serve sacrificially…
I am thankful that you give sacrificially…
I am thankful that you love God’s Word…
I am thankful that you do what God’s Word says…
I am thankful that you take prayer seriously…
I am thankful that you love your local church…
I am thankful that you don’t take yourselves too seriously…
I am thankful that you hate sin…
I am thankful that you seek to live ‘Spirit-filled’ lives…
I am thankful that you neighbor well…
I am thankful that you use your words to bless and build up…
I am thankful that you are gracious, both in word and deed…
I am thankful that you are nice, friendly, and winsome…
I am thankful that you are a joy to be around…
I am thankful that you love to invite those around you to ‘come and see’ all that God is doing with and through our community…
I am thankful that you steer clear of being ‘religious’ and remain focused on cultivating a ‘relationship’ with Jesus…
I am thankful that we have elders who seek to live and lead like Jesus…
I am thankful that we have deacons who serve like Jesus served…
I am thankful that we have GROUP leaders who want to see ALL people grow to look a bit more like Jesus…
I am thankful that we have TEAM leaders and TEAM members who are committed to loving ALL people as they have been loved and serving ALL people as they have been served…
I am thankful that we have husbands seeking to love their wives as Christ loves the church…
I am thankful that we have wives who love and respect their husbands…
I am thankful that we have parents seeking to raise their kids to love Jesus…
I am thankful that we have single people who are not confused as to who their first love is…
I am thankful that you don’t want to be a spectator, but that you want to play the game…
I am thankful that you are seeking to be obedient to God with ALL of your life ALL of the time…
I am thankful that you are committed to practicing truth…
I am thankful that you are not concerned with being popular in the eyes of man in favor of being faithful to God…
I am thankful that you want to know and live out God’s plan for your life…
I am thankful that you know that God is not done with us…
I am thankful that you are following Jesus regardless of the cost…
GENESIS – I’ve only listed out 35 things that I am thankful for when I think about you, the GENESIS family, but truth be told, I could have easily added 350 more things!
It is truly the joy of my lifetime to be trusting Jesus alongside you as we live out His promise to ‘build His church’ - a church that cares deeply about helping anyone and everyone walk with our Amazing God!
