    Passage: Exodus 3:5-6

    Notes

    Verses

    {“Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. I am the God of your father — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:5-6 NLT}{Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them." Exodus 3:7-9 NLT}{“Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10 NLT}{But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11 NLT}{God answered, “I will be with you.” Exodus 3:12 NLT}{Then he and Aaron summoned the people to come and gather at the rock. “Listen, you rebels!” he shouted. “Must we bring you water from this rock?” Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill. Numbers 20: 10-11 NLT}{But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!” Numbers 20:13 NLT}{God answered, “I will be with you.” Exodus 3:12 NLT}{“And be sure of this: I am with you always” Matthew 28:20 NLT}

    Quotes

    Jerry Bridges : “The absolute holiness of God should be of great comfort and assurance to us. If God is perfectly holy, then we can be confident that His actions towards us are always perfect and just.” (The Pursuit of Holiness); : "Every effort to define the holiness of God ultimately winds up by saying: God is holy means God is God. The very god-ness of God means that He is separate from all that is not God. There is an infinite qualitative difference between Creator and creature. God is one of a kind. In a class by Himself. He is holy in that He is God and not man – He is incomparable. In the end, language runs out.&rdquo
