TWO QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

Series: HEY JESUS... ?

TWO QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

May 24, 2020 | Michael Davis

As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God is truly good.  Mark 10:17-18 (NLT)

When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again.  One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Matthew 22:34-36 (NLT)

The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”  Luke 10:29 (NLT)

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”  Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

“Did God really say…”
Genesis 3:1

“Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat.  God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” Genesis 3:2-3 (NLT)

But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” Genesis 2:16-18 (NLT)

“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5 (NLT)

“The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.” Genesis 3:6 (NLT)

“When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:8-9 (NLT)

OUR ANSWERS DETERMINE DIRECTION

“When still in my teens I found myself lying in a hospital bed after an attempted suicide. The struggle for answers when met with despair led me along that tragic path. Now over fifty years later, I marvel at the grace of God and am convinced that Jesus Christ alone uniquely answers the deepest questions of our hearts and minds.” Ravi Zacharias – The Logic of God
