Friendship

May 27, 2018 | Michael Davis
Genesis 2:18

“It is not good for the man to be alone.”
Genesis 2:18 (NLT)

"After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king’s son. There was an immediate bond between them, for Jonathan loved David. From that day on Saul kept David with him and wouldn’t let him return home. And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself. Jonathan sealed the pact by taking off his robe and giving it to David, together with his tunic, sword, bow, and belt."
1 Samuel 18:1-4 (NLT)

“One day near Horesh, David received the news that Saul was on the way to Ziph to search for him and kill him. Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God. “Don’t be afraid,” Jonathan reassured him. “My father will never find you! You are going to be the king of Israel, and I will be next to you, as my father, Saul, is well aware.” So the two of them renewed their solemn pact before the LORD.
1 Samuel 23:15-18 (NLT)

FRIENDSHIP WITH YOU ENRICHES FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD.

“Real friendship is hard.”
Scott Sauls – befriend

“We picture lovers face to face but Friends side by side; their eyes look ahead. That is why those pathetic people who simply “want friends” can never make any. The very condition of having Friends is that we should want something else besides Friends. Friendship must be about something, even if it were only an enthusiasm for dominoes or white mice. Those who have nothing can share nothing; those who are going nowhere can have no fellow-travelers."
C.S. Lewis – The Four Loves

Are we allowed to ‘pick’ and ‘choose’ what we want to believe about God?  Is it ok to approach the Christian life like an A La Carte menu?
