SIMPLY JESUS... Gospel of John

SIMPLY JESUS – that is what the Gospel of John is all about. Jesus – who is He? Why did He come? What did He accomplish? And what does that all mean for me and the world I live in?

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me…”
John 15:9 (NLT)
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
Matthew 3:17 (NLT)
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.”
John 15:9 (NLT)
“When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”
John 15:10 (NLT)
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!”
John 15:11 (NLT)
"This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
John 15:12-13 (NLT)
Romans 5:8 – “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.”
John 15:16-17 (NLT)

“There has got to be more than this. Why do I have three Super Bowl rings and still think there’s something greater out there for me? A lot of people would think ‘Man, you’ve reached your dream. This is it!’ Me, I think, God, there’s gotta be more than this.” “What’s the answer?” I wish I knew,” Brady said. “I wish I knew.”
Tom Brady - 60 Minutes with Steve Kroft – 2007.
“Most of us, to some degree, have a difficult time understanding, believing, or accepting God’s absolute and unlimited love for us. The reasons we don’t receive, trust, or see His love vary from one person to the next, but we all miss out because of it.”
Francis Chan - Crazy Love
“I think if we truly grasped the power of that truth – that the sovereign Lord of the universe loves us unconditionally – it would change how we think of ourselves and the way we relate to others.”
Drew Dyck - Yawning at Tigers
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
C.S. Lewis - The Weight of Glory
“If God loved me enough to sacrifice His Son’s life for me, then He must be guided by the same love when He speaks His commandments to me. Viewing God’s commands and prohibitions in this light, I can see them for what they really are: friendly signposts from a heavenly Father who is seeking to love me through each directive, so that I might experience His very fullness forever.”
Milton Vincent - The Gospel Primer
“What God has done to you, He now wants to do through you. God has perfectly loved you so that, through you, He might love others. He pours His perfect love into your heart through His Spirit in order that you might love others with the love He gives you.”
