On Sunday, May 31st, GENESIS will have a NEW Sunday worship schedule… 9AM & 11AM. GENESIS Kids will have FULL Kids programming at both services.
For nearly 15 months, GENESIS has been offering three worship gatherings… 9AM, 11AM and 5PM. We have decided to scale back to doing two services during the summer months in hopes to accomplish two things:
- Volunteer Care – doing three services in one day takes a lot of people… roughly 70. Many of these people are faithfully and generously giving of themselves week after week, serving often at two services and worshiping at one of them. We are grateful for the MANY who willingly give of themselves so sacrificially week after week, but by taking the 3rd service off the Sunday schedule (for now), we are giving MANY volunteers a needed break. This break will not only give our current volunteers an opportunity to rest, but it will give us the opportunity to recruit, train and equip NEW volunteers as we prepare for a powerful season of ministry this fall.
- Rethink… and Pray – over the summer months, the leadership team will be praying and re-thinking about where a 3rd service should be offered (Saturday evenings, 3 services on Sunday AM, etc.). We believe as the fall rolls around, we will begin to offer a 3rd service once again, but we want to take the summer to pray through what that service should look like and when it should be offered.
We realize that the decision to cancel our Sunday evening service this summer will impact many people. Our heart is not to inconvenience anyone, and it is certainly not meant to take away your worship gathering. We believe this is a good decision for the summer months… a great opportunity to care for our volunteers and to pray/rethink the 3rd service as we prepare for the fall.
