Never Stop Praying (2)

by Michael Davis on December 05, 2014

We are where we are because people prayed.

We have seen all we've seen because people prayed.

We are doing all we're doing because people prayed.

We've met as many as we have because people prayed.

The people of God prayed... and God who loves to answer prayer has been responding to the prayers of His people!

At Midweek this past Wednesday evening (12/3), I was reminded of these truths.  I was reminded once again that NOTHING that has happened within and through the GENESIS Community over the past five years is an accident.  EVERYTHING that has happened is a result of men and women who faithfully asked God to be God in our midst.  EVERYTHING we've seen thus far is a result of God graciously and generously responding to the prayers of His people.

God has certainly used the hard work of many men and women along the way who have sacrificially given of themselves to pour into the lives of others, but what we are seeing as a community is a result of a few people who prayed with clarity and conviction for God-sized and God-centered things.

When I say a few people… I mean a few people.  When we were just a few dozen people gathering for worship, there were a few people who would gather to pray for a few hours before anyone else even showed up.  And they prayed.  And then they prayed some more.  And now, so many of their prayers have been answered in abundance.

As I sat in a room with seven other men this past Wednesday, I was overwhelmed with this thought... If it only takes a few who are committed to praying so much into existence, what might God do with and through the prayers of many?  What might happen if a thousand of us began asking God to be God in our midst?  What would happen if ALL of us began asking God to do God-sized, God-centered things in our midst?

I am convinced that God will move through the prayers of a few… we have seen this happen.  But as we prepare to turn the corner into 2015, I look forward to seeing what God will do with and through a people who are committed to ‘Never Stop Praying’ together.
