Good News Invitation

by on March 06, 2018

We live in a bad news world with non-stop chatter and headlines that are clamoring for our attention. Hardly any of it is good. It’s pretty depressing, right?Just turning on the TV will get you caught up on the latest sex scandals, school shootings, or abuses of power.

But how often do we feel good about ourselves or the world after watching that? There must be something more.

Jesus offers the solution to a world full of bad news!

In fact, the word “Gospel” means “good news.” It is the good news that we are not alone and left to our own devices in this world. It is the good news that the longings of our hearts really can be satisfied. It is the good news that we do not have to live in emptiness or work hard to make everyone love us. It is the good news that social status and bank accounts will not keep you out or get you in. It is the good news that death is temporary, life is never ending, and our lives really do have purpose.

It is the good news that everything we have ever needed is found in one man. His name is Jesus, and His resurrected life is the good news we all have been looking for!

This is good news worth sharing!

This Easter we all have an awesome opportunity to be good news people in a bad news kind of world. We know what it feels like to live in a world bombarded by bad news. So, let’s try something different. This year, let’s counteract it with the good news we have found in Christ. Let’s share that message with as many people as we possibly can.

Let’s be the people who drown out all of the depressing snippets of fear-filled headlines with the grace infused Gospel message of the hope we have found in Christ!

Sharing good news is easier than you may think.

It does not have to be overly dramatic or impressive. It should not be scripted like you are reading from a spiritual teleprompter. It doesn’t have to be awkward.

Sharing good news just takes the kind of whole life honesty that allows people to see who you really are as a child of God.

For instance, if you love God, just be honest about it. Don’t keep it a secret! If knowing God brings you peace, be open to giving Him props. When someone asks how you are doing, consider it an opportunity to share how God is working in your life. If they want to share their hurts and struggles, be willing to listen with real empathy and ready to give them a solid reason why Jesus is the answer!

How will our friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances ever hear the good news if it doesn’t come from us? I think the world has had enough of all the bad news.

Perhaps God has placed us right where we are to share what we know with everyone around us!

Maybe God would use you to extend His good news invitation this Easter!

The only question you must answer is:

who will you Share it with?
