Three simple numbers, but they might just change the way you walk with God… they just might change the way you walk with those around you.

Over the past few years, God has been growing a ‘discontentment’ within me regarding prayer.  Namely, my lack of prayer.  I very much see this growing discontentment as a gracious and generous gift from God.  Here’s what I’ve been hearing God say to me:

“I have more of Me for you to see… more of Me for you to hear… more of Me for you to know.”

This is what I believe God has been saying to me… and not just recently, but for some time.

In the Fall of 2015, I was thinking through how I might begin to actually apply a verse that is tattooed on the GENESIS Sanctuary Wall to my everyday life:  “Never stop praying.”  It’s one thing to know and even agree with a Bible verse, but to actually live that verse out every day, well, that is where there is often a disconnect between what we know and how we live.  I know and agree with 1 Thessalonians 5:17, but I fall very short in living this one verse out every day.

In the midst of asking God to help me apply this verse to how I live every day, I began to see the numbers in a new way… 5     1     7.

Please know this did not happen in some mystical way, far from it… I literally just began to ‘stare’ at the numbers… 5    1     7, and the longer I stared, the more clarity I began to get with how to apply this one verse to how I could live it out every day.

5 things… 1 person… 7 days a week.

That was it.  Very simple.  Very practical.

What are 5 things that God would want me to be praying about?

Who is 1 person that will know what my ‘5’ things are and will pray for me and with me?

Well, there are 7 days in a week… so I’ll pray about these 5 things every single day.

That’s it… that’s 5 1 7.

I don’t know ALL that God will do with and through 5 1 7, but I am convinced that He has more of Him that He wants me to see, hear and know.  And by the way, I am convinced, that He has more Him that He wants you to see, hear and know as well.  I'd love for you to join me on the 5 1 7 journey!
