As I prepare my heart and soul for Holy Week… also known as Passion Week, two words surface, at least above all other words:
THANK YOU!
Jesus knew about the road ahead.
Jesus knew about his betrayer.
Jesus knew about his friends that would desert him.
Jesus knew about being mocked and spit upon.
Jesus knew about the brutal beating that awaited him.
Jesus knew about the shame and pain of the cross.
Jesus knew about the sin he’d take upon himself.
Jesus knew ALL of this, and he still walked passion road.
THANK YOU, JESUS.
Thank you, Jesus for ALL you gave.
Thank you, Jesus for ALL you accomplished.
Thank you, Jesus for your UNCONDITIONAL sacrifice.
Thank you, Jesus for SHEDDING your blood.
Thank you, Jesus for ENDURING the shame of the cross.
Thank you, Jesus for TAKING UPON yourself my sin.
Thank you, Jesus for GIVING your life as payment for my sin.
Thank you, Jesus for giving ALL so I could have ALL.
Two words… they don’t seem to say enough but as I prepare for the week ahead, they are the two words that make most sense to me.
As you prepare, not just for this upcoming weekend, but for the week ahead… Holy week… Passion week… take a moment to consider. Take some time to meditate upon the road that Jesus walked for you… for me. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find your heart and soul filled with gratitude, wonder, awe, and amazement that culminates in giving voice to two words…
